How long do dried flowers last? (and how to care for them)
One of the most common questions I get is how long do dried flowers last?
The short answer? A long time
The longer answer? It depends on how you care for them and the flower types
With proper care, dried flowers can last anywhere between 1 to 3 years and often much longer.
Dried flowers are very low maintenance here's how to keep your dried flowers looking their best:
- Sunlight - avoid direct sunlight. Dried flowers do naturally fade over time and it can be part of their charm and character. Some flowers fade more than others and direct sunlight can speed up that process, if you want to maximise their colours keep them in a shaded spot or in soft light.
- Handling - dried flowers are delicate so handle with care and as little as possible to help prevent breakages.
- Keep dry - do not water and avoid humidity. Keep dry to prevent mould or mildew
- Minimal dusting - as dried flowers are fragile. I try not to dust them but If you really want to dust them you can gently blow on them or you can use a hair dryer set to cold on the lowest setting then carefully use from a distance to gently remove any dust off the flowers. Another way is with a soft paint brush, gently dust the flowers, though do this with caution and as carefully as possible especially on dried flower petals.
